Baltimore County Agricultural Center
Hord Coplan Macht project completed with Steve Corkill’s design and management.
The project for Baltimore County DPW created a new County Agricultural Center. The main building’s program centralizes County and several State AG departments. It also provides indoor and outdoor venues for promoting community education and awareness of modern farming strategies and techniques. This is the central administration building and support facility for a future AG campus Master Plan implementation of farm structures and fields providing numerous initiatives and education opportunities.
The architects researched a variety of existing farm complex typologies in the County. These studies led to an organizing parti similar to the 3-part farmstead layout found in many farm complexes. The projects austere massing, use of materials and orientation were influenced bu these studies as well.
